The Story of Black Ship
More than 100 years of Scotch Whisky heritage and knowledge have been used to produce these blended whiskies.
In memory of The Great Michael, known as the Black Ship, our finest Great Ship and flagship of the Royal Scottish Navy. The most illustrious Battleship of the 16th century. Too large to be built at any Scottish dockyard, The black Ship was laid down at the specially built Newhaven Dock in Fife, Scotland, in 1507 by order of King James IV of Scotland under the direction of Captain Sir Andrew Wood of Largo and the master shipwright Jacques Terrell. She took five years to build and when launched, was the largest warship in Europe, twice the size of any of her English contemporaries.
To celebrate her magnificence, the Master Blender has created this quality 5 years old Blended Scotch whisky from Scotland's Highlands and Islands finest malts. Drawing on over a century of Scotch Whisky heritage and knowledge, Black Ship 5 Year Old is a harmonious marriage of light, sweet grain whisky and full bodied Malts. Artfully blended to produce a distinctive smooth and mellow whisky of honey and vanilla mingled with sweet grain notes, offering a complex flavour with a touch of smokiness on the finish.
