Easter Island Pisco

Easter Island Pisco

Easter Island is one of the most remote locations in the world. The island, located off the Chilean coast, is shrouded in mystery and famed for the stone Maoi statues which surround the island. These same statues are the inspiration for Capel and their superb Reservado Moai bottling.

This fascinating but hostile island certainly doesn’t conjure up the thoughts of spring and new life which are often associated with Easter; so where does the name come from? Dutch explorer Jacob Roggeveen named the island on 5th April 1722, while sailing the South Pacific. It just so happens that the day on which he discovered the mysterious island was Easter Sunday, hence the name.
