The Story of Distillery Guy
In 1890 Armand Guy began his career, having learned from the most prestigious master distillers of Pontarlier Absinthe, most notably under Vichet.
The Guy family then became known for being the original inventors of not only “Le Vert Sapin”, a renowned liqueur made from the fir tree buds of the Haut-Doubs, but also the famous Pontarlier-Anis, a unique aperitif from green aniseed. The distillery was created at the peak of the golden age of Absinthe in Pontarlier, the world capital of this mythical aperitif.
Their Absinthe is distilled using the traditional and authentic recipes, which have been passed on generation after generation from father to son since the times of Armand Guy.
It does not seem sufficient to have only an ancient recipe, it is still necessary to read between the lines the secret methods used by its inventor distiller. It is too risky to write all of recipes and processes, and some information can not be written: the knowledge of plants, their maturation, the desired taste... the Guy family are true masters of their craft.
